All too often there are reports that someone has come across a discarded needle. When needles are found they almost always have been used and contaminated with blood. Often there is a small amount of blood left inside, or viruses that you may not be able to see.
These needles may have viruses that cause hepatitis B and C, and HIV, plus many other diseases. Therefore, it is important that the needle be safely collected and disposed of.
Most people who use needles for medication have safe disposal containers while others may discard them
anywhere, which can seriously injure those unsuspecting who come into contact with them.
Needles are often found in:
- Alleys and behind buildings
- City parks and playgrounds
- Hotels / Motels
- School yards
- Vehicles
- Garbage cans
With safe disposal no one gets hurt accidentally!
