Norovirus Outbreaks

Noro-viruses are a group of viruses that cause viral gastroenteritis, also known as acute non-bacterial gastroenteritis or food poisoning. Noro-viruses are transmitted by fecal-oral contamination through water and food vehicles, and by person-to-person transmission. Pollution of shellfish waters and poor personal hygiene are also common contributoring factors.

Norovirus outbreaks are especially common in confined spaces like military camps, cruise ships, nursing homes, hospitals and schools. Several outbreaks, including outbreaks on cruiseships, have made headline news in recent years.

Noroviruses can survive for days on surfaces causing epidemics. In order to break the cycle of infection our intensive cleaning protocols of super-sanitizing all contaminated surfaces are implemented.

TSCU technicians have the ability to travel almost anywhere on short notice to deal with emergency outbreaks.

We are also available for consultation to help you implement an Outbreak Prevention Plan and provide hands-on training in correct preventative techniques for your employees.
